Who Are We​


The Honu team is multidisciplinary, combining many years in academia and industry. We see robotics as a field of software engineering and apply professional software development practices and good design processes to our projects. 


Our Mission​


We’re a small team oriented to provide good quality code. We believe in open source, work with open source, and return to open source as much as we can. Open source projects have been an important part of our professional careers and we’re happy and proud to continue working on them helping you and your codebase.

Founder

Alejandro Hernández Cordero

I’m a tech-hungry roboticist, from the first day of my professional life I have been designing, building, and programming robotic hardware. I have 10+ years of experience in developing, maintaining and contributing to open source projects for robotics. Currently I’m a PMC (Project Management Committee) member for the Gazebo and ROS projects.

Brian Bingham

I am an experienced engineering faculty member with a passion for advancing robotics research and education, particularly in the fields of navigation and control. With over 25 years of expertise in academia, industry, and entrepreneurship, I have actively contributed to the evolution of robotics technology while inspiring and mentoring future engineers.

Carlos Agüero

I’m a Robotics enthusiast, and the multidisciplinary aspects of Robotics and the challenges faced by real Robotics projects have sculpted my formation and career. I’ve worked in education, research and industry during the last 20 years. I have worked as a Gazebo core developer since I joined Open Robotics. I’m actually a member of the Project Management Committee (PMC) of Gazebo.

Jose Luis Rivero

I’ve been a robotics Devops/ Infrastructure Engineer for the last 15 years with a special focus on the ROS and Gazebo projects while working for Open Robotics/Open Source Robotics Foundation. Currently I’m a PMC (Project Management Committee) member for the Gazebo and Infrastructure projects for the Open Source Robotics Alliance and a Debian Maintainer.
